Harvesting History
The Harvesting History Event has been scheduled for the 23rd of November at the Henry Whitfield State Museum between 10am and 5pm. Here you will get to sample both Native American and English Thanksgiving dishes from the 17th century. Attendants will also receive quill-writing lessons, get to enjoy a display exploring Thanksgiving traditions over the years, and listen-in on hourly readings of the ‘Pilgrim Cat’. General admissions go for $6 and absolutely free for kids below the age of 12.
The Manchester Road Race
Had over to Manchester on the 22nd of November and take part in this Manchester tradition. Enjoy a 5-mile race starting at 10 am with thousands of other participants in this 82nd event installment. This year, the race is expected to attract as many as 15,000 participants and apart from racing, attendants are encouraged to give blood donations. The Manchester Road Race is the biggest road race event in the Constitution State, attracting everyone from runners, walkers, and Olympic-level athletes. Register online before the 15th of November or in person at the Sports Expo on the 17th. There will also be a mini-version of the race on the 17th where kids below the age of 12 will take part in the Little Manchester Road Race from 10 am at the Bennet Academy.
Yuletide Festivals
Head over to Putnam in Windham county and welcome Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause; the Christmas patron and matron will be greeting children on the 23rd of November between 4 pm and 7 pm. After the meet-and-greet you will get to enjoy the arrival of Ol’ Saint Nick in Bethel at the annual Winter Fest courtesy of the Bethel fire department.
